With Civil War less than a week away we pose the question: Is it fair to compare The DC movie universe to the Marvel movie universe? Granted, Batman V Superman was a critical and fan disappointment for the most part, but it did accelerate the process.

Is DC as far away from competing with Marvel as some people think? Or will Suicide Squad lead DC out of the rear view and into the forefront. Join the conversation 11am on TalkingAlternative.com

What a wacky movie world we live in! MIB 23, the rumored Men In Black, 21 Jump Street crossover, as reported by Comic Book Dot Com, is official! WTF??

“Little information has been made available yet, although it’s assumed that Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will return to reprise their roles from 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street. Whether the Men in Black will be recast or whether they’ll bring back actors from previous films is, at this point, anybody’s guess. At least one report has said that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are definitely not coming back, although whether they’ll be replaced altogether or whether Sony will make a run at Josh Brolin to reprise his role as a younger Jones isn’t known.”

Yeah, it’s one thing to have something like say Civil War crossing their characters but has every studio gone mad??

Sigh…is this even more ramifications from DC’s movie strategy that includes Batman V Superman, Justice League and Suicide Squad? Or is this something cool?

We welcome our Transmedia guru Jeff Gomez to help break down this craziness and give us insight into the new Avatar and Civil War films as well. PLUS: we continue our DC movie debate!

Batman v Superman steamrolled into theaters this past weekend to record breaking Easter sales. And while fan and critic reaction was divided to say the least (see my article on Inquisitr for more on that), one thing is for certain: the comic book movie train continues to roll on!

But does it translate to into sales for comic book stores and other distribution platforms? And more importantly, does it equal more fans of comic books – the source material for these films?

Batman v Superman: Box Office Equals Comic Book Fans?

My take (and the take of the local retailer) by me is no. I am a vendor at about 5-7 conventions a year across the country (catch me in NJ, NY, CA and more this year alone). And while these pop culture gatherings have grown tremendously, I can’t say the retail side of things has seen any bump. In fact, I sell more sketches and custom prints than books these days. And that really defeats the purpose doesn’t it?

Tune in this Friday as we ask the curator of Larry’s Wonderful World of Comics himself, Larry Doherty, that very question and more. Plus, we give you OUR take on BvS and we wrap up our March Madness Franchise Final Four with the X-Men franchise this Friday 11am ET on TalkingAlternative.com

Man that Batman V Superman was great wasn’t it? Between Wonder Woman’s surprise appearance and Doomsday catapulting out of a giant meteor thanks to Lex Luthor manipulating our heroes into that massive slugfest, this movie had it all!

What’s that? Shouldn’t I have labeled this post SPOILERS? Well, sure I would have…had the trailer for the film not already spoiled the movie for everyone already.

So, no, I haven’t actually SEEN Dawn of Justice yet, so I’m not 100% sure how everything goes down. But I’ve also seen enough thanks to the trailer and my knowledge of comic books to put the pieces together. Sure, there are probably more spoilers and cameos we haven’t heard of yet, but I gotta say, this disturbing trend of giving away all the twists and turns in the trailer has got to end.

Batman V Superman: Movie Trailer

It wasn’t long ago that Amazing Spider-Man 2 revealed Harry’s role as Green Goblin a good month before the film hit. And the big reveal that John Connor was the villain in Terminator: Genysis even took the director, Alan Taylor, himself by surprise. Or Chris Pratt driving alongside velociraptors en route to a massive Jurassic Park opening.

Maybe I’m wrong. According to an article featured on Entertainment Weekly last year, market research actually seems to argue the MORE we know, the more likely we are to see the film. But I have a feeling those stats are related to more obscure flicks and not FREAKING BATMAN VS SUPERMAN!!! That alone should be all you need to want to see this movie. (Same applies to Terminator too which would explain the sorry box office results I’d wager)

In this age of giving away the whole movie, all I can say is…Thank God for J.J. Abrams.
