Splinter Cell John Wick Ubisoft Derek Kolstad NetflixA new anime series based around Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell franchise is being developed by John Wick writer Derek Kolstad and is set to premiere on Netflix.

Ubisoft hasn’t had the best time lately, thanks in no small part to stories popping up of abuse of various kinds in its many offices. This has not stopped the company from going full speed on its motion picture division and has several projects in the works. This including a film based on The Division, a series based on Child of Light, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, and several others. Now this list includes a Splinter Cell series from John Wick writer Derek Kolstad.

The Splinter Cell series is a long-running video game stealth series that was developed under the Tom Clancy Ubisoft brand. The games followed protagonist Sam Fisher in his various operations against various terrorist organizations, conspiracies within the government, and private groups up to no good. The game’s latest installment, Splinter Cell: Blacklist was released in 2013 to mostly positive reviews but failed to meet Ubisoft’s sales expectations, effectively ending the franchise until now.

John Wick writer Derek Kolstad is helping develop the upcoming Splinter Cell Netflix show, serving as writer and executive producer on the series. In addition to his work on the Splinter Cell series, the John Wick writer is also serving as a writer on the upcoming Just Cause film and the Hitman series. The upcoming series currently does not have a release date.

Here is the official synopsis for the latest film in the franchise, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum:

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

Directed by Chad Stahelski from a script written by Derek Kolstad, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum stars Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Common, Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jason Mantzoukas, Anjelica Huston, and Boban Marjanovic.
